What to Pack and Plan for Your Dental Trip to Istanbul
A practical planning checklist for UK patients: passport and entry rules, records, insurance questions, recovery days and what to ask your clinic to include.

A little planning goes a long way, whichever treatment you are having. This checklist is written for UK travellers.
Before you fly
- Passport and entry. According to GOV.UK, British citizens can visit Turkey without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180-day period, and the passport must have an expiry date at least 150 days after arrival and at least one blank page. Rules can change, so check the latest GOV.UK travel advice shortly before you go.
- Your own dentist. Tell them your plans first — the General Dental Council advises this.
- Records. Copies of any recent dental X-rays, a list of current medication and any allergies, and your written treatment plan.
- Insurance. Check whether your travel insurance covers planned dental treatment abroad and complications. Policies differ, and some exclude it.
- What is included. Ask your clinic to write down transfers, accommodation and follow-up visits — do not assume.
During your stay
Leave room in the schedule between appointments rather than packing the trip with sightseeing. Ask your clinic what to eat and avoid in the first few days, and pack soft food you are happy with. Keep all paperwork and take photographs of the plan and any records you are given.
